    Someone lost a star.

A 'monster' star 2 million times brighter than the sun disappears without a trace

The weirder and more exciting explanation is that the star never recovered from its outburst, but instead collapsed into a black hole without going supernova. This would be a rare event, the team conceded. Given the star's estimated mass before its disappearance, it could have created a black hole measuring 85 to 120 times the mass of Earth's sun, though how this could have happened without a visible supernova is still an open question.
We could isolate Russia totally from the world and maybe they could apply for membership after 2000 years.

This is what happens when you don't lay a proper foundation.
There's nothing civil about this war.

    That's a grave matter.

What I thought was cool was that the instant cloud of slime is a defense mechanism. It clogs the gills of the attacking fish. There’s video in the article.

Hagfish have also been observed putting a knot in their bodies for leverage while trying to pull prey out of a hole. They start the knot at thier tail and work it towards their head.

It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma.

And the bottom of that matrioshka doll brain just collapsed into itself.

P.S. Re. the original article, one of the conspiracy theories is that instead of a star turning into a black hole (a grave matter indeed), it's aliens with a Dyson Sphere. I prefer the conspiracy to have a Matrioshka brain

    Behind the dead-water phenomenon

"In 1893, the Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen experienced a strange phenomenon when he was traveling north of Siberia: his ship was slowed by a mysterious force and he could barely maneuver, let alone pick up normal speed."

"This phenomenon, called dead water, is seen in all seas and oceans where waters of different densities (because of salinity or temperature) mix. It denotes two drag phenomena observed by scientists. "

"This work is part of a major project investigating why, during the Battle of Actium (31 BC), Cleopatra's large ships lost when they faced Octavian's weaker vessels. Might the Bay of Actium, which has all the characteristics of a fjord, have trapped the Queen of Egypt's fleet in dead water?"
