Thread: Carrying and caring for the PDW

The new Vertx Ready Pack is the perfect size for a folding stock/brace Rattler and they've done a great job making it look like normal backpack.

Obviously a violin case. They can be about 30-in. long. Innocuous to people who don't know what a violin case looks like, but attractive to people who do and might profile as being very out of place.

Huckberry restocked the slick GR1 in both 21L and 26L.

First, here is my Daniel Defense DDM4v7 with brace and Law Tactical folder. This is the factory configuration except I removed the bird case flash hider and installed a Dead Air three prong hider that serves as a mount for my Sandman K. As you can see, it fits (barely) when folder. The picture of the bag zipped up has the gun in it.
    That's the DDM4 V7 S with 11.5-in. barrel, right?

    Gamut 2.0:
    20.5”H x 11.5”W x 7.5”D
    Capacity: 25 liters

    Gamut Checkpoint:
    22” H x 11.5” W x 8”D
    Capacity: 25 liters

I'm thinking the extra inch and a half of the Checkpoint would be worthwhile, especially with a 6'4" frame to hang it on.

My gun is a DDM4V7 P, with a 10.3" barrel. As I mentioned, it is somewhat longer than stock due to the Dead Air FH.

I am 6'4" as well, and the regular Gamut works well for me for general use. I did not buy it as a dedicated gun bag. If that were my intent, I'd probably get the longer one.

I got the Checkpoint to make sure I could fit a 11.5 Law folder. It’s perfect. It’s a very comfortable and close-carrying bag

I’ve been debating the Gamut vs Checkpoint for a 10.5 and have not come to any firm conclusion, but I think the regular will work seeing the 10.3 plus Dead Air fits. I will be running a Black River Covert Comp if they ever ship it.

Went for a walk in the north woods yesterday, 10.5 fits (tight) in a Mystery Ranch ASAP. I’d be happier if it fit barrel down to ease deployment.

8X10 hard plate fits nicely in the laptop compartment of a GR1 21L.
