A couple of questions about reflex red dots

Hello I could use some help about purchasing a red dot for my glock17. Anyhow here I go. I bought a scorpion surf mount wich allows to mount a variety of red dot sights. I want to purchase an inexpensive sight to start with and then move my way up to a better sight down the road.

I have noticed that some sights have a inter grated pictatinny weaver mounting system integrated on the sight. The mount I bought has holes drilled to mount the sight on. The question I have is if you can remove the pictatinny weaver mounts from the red dot so I can mount it to the plate on the scorpion mount.

Also I noticed some sights have 2 or 3 moas could anyone give me any advise on which is better, also if anyone could recommend any red dots to start with. I'm using it on a glock 17 with mostly reloads that keep at around 950 fps. So it's not a whole lot of recoil. Any help would be great.

    Duty gun? CCW? Competition? Plinking?

There’s some Holosun 407’s and 507’s out there for under and around $200. It’s a good, inexpensive choice for a proof of concept. Two of my all purpose guns have 407c’s on them, one has an RMR. With several thousand rounds on each, I have a slight preference for the Holosun line. No experience with other options.

Yes, that’s Strike’s mount. I believe that’s set up to take multiple optics with no further adapters (that’s the entire point of the concept). I’d likely start off with a Holosun.

Don’t anguish over dot sizes just yet.

Unsure if the discoubt code is still valid.

    I’ve seen the 407 3MOA for under $200. Can’t find it now.

Hey guys. Be aware that the Holosun on the Palmetto website is the “407A”, which doesn’t have the solar panel.

Totally missed that. Thanks for clarifying.

    check out kenzies optics.

I'd buy a 407C V2. It's $240. 2moa. and you can change the battery without removing and rezeroing.

I check gundeals every day for holosun deals. I scored a 508t V1 for $280 not long ago. Love it so far. 1200 rounds on an MOS g19 and no issues.
