    Retail Therapy During Quarantine

Like many here, I am on lockdown. My toddlers are now home 24/7. The Courts here are essentially closed (for at least two more weeks, likely longer) and my work is accordingly slowing down. The absence of the daily interactions with friends and colleagues is greatly missed. Hell, I comfort ate my first bowl of ice cream last week (the first in 6 months). In short, I am in need of therapy. Retail therapy. What's on your wish list? Are you similarly having these inclinations?

Here's what I have been contemplating today:

Filson Neoshell Jacket. I won't buy Patagonia anymore, need a new option.

Sinn U1 (cool all black version) I've worn the same 757 Dialpal for almost 10 years straight now; might be an acceptable time to get another.

Sebenza. Never owned one. Seems like a classic I would't regret

All I know—unless your ice cream had calamari and brussel sprouts in it—is that you have great taste.

If my job wasn't so uncertain I'd be welcoming various new items into my life. And many of them would be made by H&K.

Oh so many things...I've already spent some cash on stuff from Shivworks, Dark Star Gear, the Ben Stoeger Pro Shop, and 5-Shot Leather

But let's see what's sitting in my tabs for retail therapeutic needs which are split broadly into two categories:

    Motorcycle Stuff

    A 1981 BMW R65 Approximately $2700 worth of riding gear from Revzilla - www.revzilla.com

    Car Stuff

About $5000 worth of parts from KMiata for my Sunbeam swap - https://kmiata.com/

Saving my money right now to add to my cash reserve to prepare for the incoming expenses crunch. Only thing I bought was an inconspicuous-ish bag for my AR pistol, $30 on amazon. Actively thinking through which guns I'll sell first if need be.

I guess that I should 'fess up that I bought a large bead front sight for the Henry .44 mag lever gun that got pulled from safe queen duty to look cool leaning up in the library, packed with Hornady 300 grainers, per one of our favorite tactical dentists. Woohoo! Big therapy...

I've owned a plain small Sebenza for 15 years. It's my default EDC knife.

I got a killer deal on it when a member of a forum I was in (maybe THR) decided to become an authorized CRK seller, which required an initial buy-in of a bunch of knives. To raise capital, he did a forum group buy at his cost. In hindsight, I wish I had gotten a decorated version because this is the only one-handed folder I'll never part with.

The small version is about the perfect size for an EDC knife IMO. Big enough to handle anything you'd use such a knife for without being too small and dainty.

I'll admit to virtual shopping for AR pistols.
Geisslele put one out over the weekend, but it was out of stock before I could bring myself to pull the (virtual) trigger on ordering one.

For another shell option: Arcteryx is running a 25% off in stock with free shipping (and returns, at least on some items) through 6 APR.

Your fellowship funding potentially a problem? You're on an NIH F31, right?

I doubt you need help, but if you're having a grants issue, you can send me a PM. That's what the wife does and we're working hard here to make sure people are covered properly here. She might have some resources to reach out to if there is a problem.

I'd also check with all of your PIs and PIs in related labs, no cost extensions are all but guaranteed right now through NSF and NIH, I'd bet many are filing with the intention of trying to extend their money for as long as possible. At this point even doing some lame-ass, not-at-all related to your dissertation, bioinformatics from home that pays is better than starving (or worse...selling guns...).

I'm gonna be a @LittleLebowski shill - and note if you're sharing the retail therapy wealth - grabbing a Site Supporter Membership is 25 bucks spent supporting your Local Electron Overlord (which I think should be LL's new custom title).

Or spend some cash with one of our forum sponsors

Dark Star Gear is running 15% off sitewide with code: sah15%
ShivWorks Product Group has new patches in stock for 5 bucks and t-shirts too, you need one or three.
Call CS Tactical for some optics homies
    Venicor
    Langdon Tactical
    Lee Loaders
    Olight
    Brownells
    Cabelas
    Palmetto State Arms
    Hahnson Brothers
    JM Custom Kydex
    Custom Carry Concepts
    __

Okay that's enough shilling. Where's my shiller's discount*?!

*I am not actually shilling and have no financial stake in any of these companies or service providers. Just a personal interest in seeing our community be a leader in supporting "our guys" and helping each other out during these strange times.
