Thread: Any other Glock 48 fans?

I tried a Glockstore tungsten RSA but it was still unpleasant to shoot. The P365XL was much, much softer shooting. Trying to put a number on it, if the recoil impulse on the G43X was a 10, the others are:

    P365XL - 6
    P365X - 7
    G48 - 7
    P365 - 8
    G43X - 10

Out of these five, I don't believe I experienced any difference in reload times, or on the draw, due to the gun. That was much more affected by holster position and type. Although: the P365 and P365X with the OEM P365 grip module on is a bit harder to get a hold of, due to the shorter grip. The G43X/G48 are identical, as you might expect.

The P365X with the optic and weighted Wilson Grip, in a JM Custom Kydex AIWB 2.5 Wing Claw+single DCC clip, with a couple Mastermind Tactics Appendix Carry Pillows velcro'd on for comfort, seems to be in Goldilocks territory: 12+1, reliable, accurate, shootable, carryable, comfortable. So far so good but I think the P365X is the best bet for skinny 9mms out there these days, at least for me and my Size M hands.

I too sold my G43X even before I got my CR920. For some reason I vastly prefer the G43 recoil vs the G43X. I wish the G43 beavertail was flat like the CR920s because the G43 shape hammers the bone in my thumb

No optic on my 43X but I replaced the recoil spring assembly at about the 2,000 round mark. Intermittent failures to feed were my cue to replace the spring. Have run another 300 rounds since the replacement with no issues.

I’m around 4000 rounds in my original silver slide G48 with no feeding issues yet.
But it has had 4 stovepipes with the cheapest ammo. 2 of which were in the first 100rds of Winchester steel cased and my mixed brass reloads. At 4K I think it’s time for a new recoil spring as preventative maintenance.

My G48 MOS has been 100% and I just finished my first 1000rds of reloaded ammo through it.

I carry with factory magazines only. I’d like to put aftermarket extensions for the magazines….

    Anyone have a recommendation??

    I’m thinking Taran or Tyrant…..

    Thanks

My personal G48 has finally arrived. Silver slide version manufactured in 2020. Only 200 rounds so far, I found it "softer" shooting compared to the G43x. Testing it in a holster it carries really really well AIWB. Plan to put another 1000 rounds through it before I start carrying it. I don't see it replacing my 19 or 26 but seems like it has a role. My daughter's primary carry was a Gen 3 26, she got her G48 last year. She said with her dress style, she actually found it easier to conceal the G48 verses the G26.. Hers has 2000 rounds through it . She now carries the G26 for hiking etc but the G48 remains her work and socialising carry gun. Will update as I spend more time at the range.

PSA 15 rnd magazines that fit the PSA Dagger, G43X and G48

Palmetto State Armory has just introduced a 15 round magazine that works in the G43X and G48 using the stock polymer magazine catch. The PSA magazine apparently has a steel magazine body over molded with polymer.

I’ll be interested to see how they work. If they’re reliable, I’ll buy five or so.

I’ve got two and carry them the most, a very early silver slide and a MOS. I run SA-15 mags exclusively in them and have had no feeding problems, my round counts are not high though(2100/silver, 1250/MOS). Besides sights and a flat trigger shoe they are stock, think I might do a 2000 round challenge with one.

I almost got a year with mine (G48MOS)

Hated the serrated trigger, so I bought an expensive alum trigger, and polished minus connector/firing pin safety plunger.

The improvements were so minor that I sold the trigger at 90% and took an old trigger bar with a G17 trigger and swapped the trigger.

I misplaced the hole to drive out the blind pin and cratered it a bit. OH WELL, silicone to the rescue.

I like its lightweight carry. I turned the rear plastic sight around for black rear with white dot front.

Been fishing for a deal on a used Holosun 507K but I recently qualed with it and other than a low shot from left hand, it shoots good with plastic sights.

I want to go 15 round mags, maybe one day. Optic, maybe one day. HA!
