Ammunition Sales Soar in Response to Coronavirus Panic

40 S&W lead with a 410% increase which is surprising:

Lots of LE trade-in .40’s in circulation..... how much of it will be expended in training, I wonder?

    Correlation does not equal causation.

"We know certain things impact ammo sales, mostly political events or economic instability when people feel their rights may end up infringed, but this is our first experience with a virus leading to such a boost in sales."

Uh, yea, it is also a year Dem's are doing a major run up to a presidential election, where taking guns away and bans are talking points. Probably using the same tools used to pull bump stocks. So major political event.
And .40 cal guns are pretty cheap right now, as people stop carrying/using them, so those that buy them, are stocking up.

Yet the Coronavirus gets the credit?

Without knowing the raw numbers the percentages don't mean much.

If they sold 100 rounds of .40 in the 10-days prior and 510 rounds the 11-days after that's a 410% increase over the previous stretch.

This is a picture perfect example of how representation of trends means nothing in the absence of understanding the underlying data.

I was on the fence about ordering more ammo, thanks for a push in the right direction.

It’s just a matter of time before the insanity begins. Most of here are probably pretty flush, and won’t be panic buying. I might pick up my summer reloading supplies a little earlier than expected, but as far as panic buying, not this time.
I will pick up some planned buys, but nothing on a whim.

Might be a good time to unload some of those M2s.

I think .40S&W is overkill for a virus. I've been stocking up on a few billion rounds of .22LR.

If you're short on ammo it's probably too late.

Anyone stocking up now is going to start another shortage.
In the P-F basket of deplorables.
