Thread: Brownells AR rails on sale

  1. #11
Updating this necro post because they recently changed these and IMO they are pretty cool and a smoking deal.

I thought I had all of the LaRue LATs I was ever gonna need, but when I decided to build a 350 Legend upper and went to go get one more (at least order it, last one took ~14mo to get...) I discovered that apparently it was a low volume PITA for them they discontinued them.

But the good news is I like these better, and while the LaRue was a comparative bargain (~$10 per inch) these are an even better deal, now on sale for $99. I just ordered a second one.

One feature I think is important (or at least desirable) is something that doesn't rotationally locate off of the gas tube. The new Wrenchman LW has tabs that straddle the upper (like the LaRue does/did). This also means that there is no need for the barrel nut to be indexed to the tube hole, significantly simplifying the install. They are also a thin profile, as is currently desirable.

Here is a video that shows the installation details (In another video they confirmed that they were being built for them by MI):

That's the first thing I thought before I even read your post, that's definitely an MI barrel nut.

FTR I believe MI's Combat Rail, which this looks suspiciously (or almost exactly) similar to, is about the best dollar-for-dollar deal out there.
