My 9 year old daughter needs a rifle

I need recommendations on a bolt action, short LOP (length of pull), threaded for suppressor .22 rifle. Open sights are fine. She’s small for her age, but needs to start training on my back acreage for a hunt with me hosted by Giving Back. Right now, I’m wondering if we will need to buy an aftermarket stock because of the LOP issue.

Bolt gun only? No option for something like an M&P 22? It'll make shooting an AR that much easier when she's 12.

I’ve got an M&P 15/22, but I’m biased towards learning on a bolt gun. She will definitely shoot ARs later.

Although, you may like this price a little better.

Like the CZ, and unlike the Crickett, etc., it has the same action as the regular Marlin rifles. It's a single-shot. The build quality is exceptionally nice for what they cost. If you were local, I'd lend you mine to try.

    Agreed.

And I'd try and get a Skinner rear for it.

My kids learned on a chipmunk barracuda. Needed trigger work and wasn’t factory threaded, but other than that was delightful. If you skip the can, just use CCI Quiets. Manually cocking the gun kinda blows too.

All that said, the CZ Scout is definitely the EZ button approach and can grow with her.

I'd at least take a look at the Savage Rascal. That's what I started my son on after comparing to the Cricket, though I did not have it threaded as I don't own a suppressor or have the desire to jump through the required hoops just yet. It has the Savage Accu-trigger and is actually quite nice to shoot. It's very light and suitable for small statures, as that's the target audience. Somewhat bigger but with various inserts for the stock to adjust LOP, the Ruger American Compact rimfire is pretty reasonable in the price/performance matrix.
Sorta around sometimes for some of your shitty mod needs.
