The lead acetate is pretty hazardous in aqueous solution. The (careful) addition of sulfuric acid will form lead sulfate which is an insoluble solid and much safer as it is not readily absorbed through skin or mucous membranes. You can add sulfuric acid until precipitate stops forming and then neutralize with sodium hydroxide or a similar base.
The equation is: H2SO4 + 2 Pb(C2H3O2) = Pb2SO4 + 2 C2H4O2
