The inside baseball on this is that the Republicans put 120 proposed amendments on it to delay its passage.

"We are outraged by this blatant attempt to misuse procedural measures to run out the clock on this lifesaving policy,” Renee Hopkins, the gun safety group’s CEO, said in a statement moments after it became clear the bill would die. “In Washington state, at least 26 people have been killed and 45 more have been injured in mass shootings involving high-capacity magazines, including the shooting in downtown Seattle just last month that left one dead and seven others wounded.

(Yep, the gun safety group is referring to the Seattle gang shooting between felons, which killed and injured innocent people....)

The have re-introduced this as an Appropriations Bill, which doesn't allow for Amendments. Good grief this state is fucked.

Now that we have a decent variety of ethnic food and craft beer over here, I have very little use for the wet side.

I see that Renee Hopkins, big Chief at the Alliance in Seattle, works for restorative justice and criminal justice reform. She has made her living working for non profits. I bet she idolizes Hillary and Jane, two other big chiefs.

In good news out of the Evercorona --er -- Evergreen State, the legislature adjourned Thursday without passing this.

Looks like they also passed a bill for state background checks for purchases that will be centralized, with an $18 surcharge, rather than spread the process to whatever town/county you live in.

The problem with town/county checks is 1) they don't get any money from the state to do that, and 2) some are just plain understaffed to do it in a timely manner. I had one take 2 weeks where I live and I have a CPL from the county that did the check. Figure that one out. It looks like the state has finally hit upon how they'll get these BC's done but as always it's going to cost the end user. I don't have a problem with that if they would just centralize the records and give me a proceed based on my CPL. If my CPL was revoked they could just flag it like they do with DL's. It's all being managed by the DOL so it shouldn't be a huge undertaking. When the WSP or sheriff pulls me over and they run my plates my CPL comes up right along with my DL. They have the information, they just don't know how to use it, or maybe they don't want to.

The magazine restrictions and a AWB is coming but it won't come from the legislature. It will be on the ballot as an initiative in Nov. Watch it pass. The Corvid is god's way of punishing socialist.

    I hear that a lot.

I still make an annual pilgrimage to the east side every year for a box of Galas. Used to spend a few weeks every year in the Palouse.

Took this while hunting on the Snake R. That's all wheat, for 40 miles in every direction.

I grew up on the Palouse, and bird hunting the snake river breaks. That pic is very representative of the area. Lovely.

If you get over this way again feel encouraged to PM.
