Always worth listening to Hilton Yam.
Don’t blame me. I didn’t vote for that dumb bastard.
Thank you for another great video!
Anyone know why Mr. Yam recommends a 18.5 lbs recoil spring with a 23 lbs main spring OR a 17 lbs recoil spring with a 19 lbs main spring?
Is the latter just for softer loads? I'm curious about that combination.
So long as this vid thread is up, may as well post pt 2:
”But in the end all of these ideas just manufacture new criminals when the problem isn't a lack of criminals.” -JRB
I took the 10-8 Armorers Class in 2012.
I recall Hilton saying for heavy use of 230 grain FMJ and duty type rounds, 18.5 recoil spring was recommended.
I switched to 18.5 and developed wrist pain after a few years.
In an email to Hilton describing my pain issue..... he believed the slide was snapping back with much greater force using the heavier recoil spring and suggested I switch back to 16 lbs recoil spring but to change that spring more often.
I did and have not looked back.
