    New SA Saint Edge - a PDW for the masses?

    I’ve always been intrigued by the PDW concept and have dabbled in it with a 7.5” 5.56 build with a folding GHW Tailhook brace. Yes, I know 5.56 ballistics are severely compromised by the short barrel - but it is very easy to make hits out to 100M plus it folds up tiny.

    I Springfield announced a PDW version of their Saint pistol at SHOT. I’m surprised to see it has some high zoot components - the Maxim linear brake is $200 retail, and their PDW brace is $350ish. This may make a decent PDW for the average Joe, I’m guessing street price will be $1400 or less.

    I know the Saint line doesn’t seem to get much respect, but I have three friends who have various models and haven’t had issues. None of them have run theirs hard in a class setting, I’d be curious to see how they stand up.

    7.5" in 5.56 means you'll never have to Neti-pot your sinuses again!

    Yeah...anything under 11.5: should be .300BO in my opinion. I've got the Palmetto 8.5" and it runs well out of the box, even suppressed.

    I have this inexpensive MI muzzle device on my 7.5”, and it’s actually quite tolerable - even indoors. I did try it once with an A2, that was fun...

    Did I hear somewhere that BCM has/had some involvement in the Springfield ARs?

    I picked this up last year. Runs and more accurate than I am:

    This has potential:

    Yes, 556 in Uber short barrel loses significant velocity, but I expect it beats a 9mm on the receiving end.

    Imagine that without the takedown barrel, and that’s pretty much my 7.5” - LAW folder, Tailhook and all.

    I was really impressed with the Daniel Defense PDW released at SHOT. I’ve really liked the idea of an unsuppressed 300 Blackout as a backpack rif...er, “pistol” after @voodoo_man’s thread https://pistol-forum.com/showthread....pressed-pistol. With the short barrel, blast-directing muzzle device, and collapsing brace that allows the weapon to be fired in fully-collapsed form (although the safety is a bit buried in this condition, but still useable), I think this is the best overall design for a concealable, deployable, reasonably affordable, and (assuming typical DD quality) reliable PDW-type weapon. Assuming no issues in teething, I plan to pick one up shortly.

    People have made that assumption because they used BCM furniture but there is no real connection I’m aware of.

    I thought the Troy M7 was awesome until I fired one. I suspect that anyone with a talismanic approach to carrying a braced AR pistol will enjoy the compactness of a 7.5in barrel. It looks cool, it'll sell because it looks cool, and I'm okay with that.
    Folks with a more training/high round count sort of use will opt for longer barrels, I suspect.

    Also, G&R Tactical currently has Colt 6933 uppers in stock; $480 stripped or $699 with BCG, CH, and MBUS sight.

    P-F thread drift;

    With a .300 BO pistol build, is there a similar near-Goldilocks barrel length for .300 that is good with supers and suppresses well with subs?
    I'm thinking about treating myself to one with a can soon and I'm struggling to sort through all the barfcom derp.
