Not very bright but does lack ambition
A guess only, but based on how the world seems to work these days: components and even subassemblies sourced globally but with final assembly and QC in the People’s Republic of Oregon. There is hardly any US based component level manufacturing left anymore, at least for now.

Yes, really. It’s the first RDS made is the new factory which may have been part of of the delay in its release. It may also be part of why the price is what it is.

Does that mean every component is made from scratch is the U.S. ? Unlikely. But I doubt you’ll find any RDS with 100% US made components.

The US factory was a requirement for SIGs military LPVO contracts.

Like everyone else in the industry I’m sure SIG will continue to have other products made elsewhere.

Like Vortex and Leupold, SIG Optics has a mix of products made in China, the Philippines, Japan and the USA with a corresponding range of prices.

The R2’s progenitor , the R1P, is made in the Philippines.

Gotcha. Sorry, my “is it really” was because I wasn’t sure if you were making a joke when you mentioned socialist Oregon or if serious. Gotcha.

So you’d have to mill for the DPP or use DPP plate for the R2?

I was serious about both origin of the R2 and the fact Oregon has devolved into a putrid sewer of socialism.

As mentioned either up thread or in the Sage Dynamics video the R1P/R2 and DPP footprints are similar except for the supporting posts in true DPP foot prints.

If your DPP plate or cut has the post you will need to either get a different plate or have the post smelled away to install the R2.

C&H makes plates specific to the R1P/R2 footprint for Glock MOS.. Not sure about the CORE.

The biggest downside I see is, as posted up thread, the R2 is apparently slightly longer than the R1P and DPP such that it doesn’t fit in SIGs own PRO optics cut on the P320 PRO models.

Seems like a pretty silly move on Sigs’s part.

Not if the real goal is to put them on the U.S. Military’s M17/18s which have a larger optics cut.

Ahh good point. Bad move for us but yes, if the goal is for a mil contract then it makes good sense.
