A lot of times, the final development on stuff like this takes a long time. Also, "good-fast-cheap" applies. If you want the lowest possible prices for your crazy-expensive mold tooling and relatively smallish production run of molded parts, you might have to wait for the bigger jobs with deeper pockets needing them done to thin out in the queue.
