One of my jobs involves pulmonary rehab, which is essentially a gym, a medical gym. We are allowing patients to exercise but the equipment is now six feet apart, they are not allowed to switch between one piece of equipment and another during their session, and there are very strict sanitization protocols.

    Edited;

Any we screen all patients before they can exercise.
What's the risk of going to the gym if you've been vaccinated? The one I'd go to (I'm vaccinated but havent returned) does some covid theater but no real precautions.

No issues for me, and I have lived life pretty well considering the lockdowns.

You have had the vaccine, why let this control you more than it already has?

Life is finite. Take precautions, wash your hands and enjoy life.

I know my take on this whole thing has been different from the mainstream
. That doesn't make me right, but I have enjoyed life as much as the lockdowns would allow one to do.

Not different from me at least. I will not be joining the guinea pig parade, ever. Interesting that they have been working decades on covid-type virus vaccines with zero success but we’re supposed to believe that after one year of fast-tracked “trials” they now have three vaccines we are supposed to trust? Not FDA approved but given an emergency waiver? Thanks but I’ll give it a pass, and if/when they come out with mandated fascist vaccine “passports”, I’ll also be giving that a pass, and I guess at that point I’ll know where I can’t go and what I can’t do.

What happened, and what is happening to this country? And BTW, to my country of birth as well (Israel).

Don't have a good answer for that, have not seen any reliable data myself.

Back when covid-19 first showed up was significant concern that with increased respiration due to heavy exercise there would be more viral released into the air, couple that with close proximity, sharing equipment, and people with bad lungs to begin with; most of the programs in the state as well as the country shut down completely.

We were closed for two, maybe three months before we were allowed to reopen with much less capacity as well as more strict patient selection criteria, and more detailed cleaning protocols.

That was all pre-vaccine, and I should note that that was all done based upon best guessing and speculation from the experts. Not data-driven

We are still running at significantly reduced capacity, and still don't do some procedures at all such as high intensity exercise stress test. But that may change with some protocols involving rapid on-site testing the same day of the procedure, vaccinations, Etc.

Israel has disappointed me too. It's not my country of birth, and I am not Jewish, but it is a special place for me.

Human nature indeed. Ben Gurion once famously said that he hoped Israel would be a “light unto the nations” as well as a “nation like all others”.
Sorry brother, you can’t be both.
I raised my children on a kibbutz on the Syrian border in the Golan Heights. Kibbutz was an amazing place to raise kids and to grow up as a kid. It was built on a socialist construct....everybody equal, nobody gets anything that another member can’t have, and on and on. Books have been written about what kibbutz is and what it meant in Israeli society (by far the largest percentage of IDF combat officers came from kibbutz). Human nature killed it. And human nature is why socialism will never work anywhere if humans are involved.

I want to preface this by saying that even though I don't post much, I've been around pistol-forum for awhile, and I was even able to train with ToddG, which was a real treat! I know it would be useless to ask this on the other gun forum I go to—even though there are a few doctors there too—but this is a subject that seems to be seriously discussed here, and I appreciate that.

I was scheduled for the J&J/Janssen vaccine, which is the one I preferred for personal reasons, but the blood clot issue got in the way, and my appointment was rescheduled for a few weeks from now. We'll see what happens this Friday (at the FDA/CDC meeting), but from all I've read so far, I believe that as a 50+ male with Type O blood that I have extremely low risk of getting a blood clot from the vaccine... even less than one-in-a-million since the 6 or 7 affected persons out of ~7 million shots given were all younger females.

For that reason, I think I still prefer the J&J vaccine, but I've been hearing about booster shots that both mRNA companies are working on. I suspect a booster will probably be required at some point to keep immunity levels up or because of specific Covid variants, but I haven't seen anything in the news about J&J working on boosters. That makes me wonder if I should be thinking more long-term in that if only mRNA boosters are available, they will have been tested and studied as a supplemental shot to an original mRNA vaccine, but it's possible that nobody will really know what could happen if people get an mRNA booster on top of an adenovirus vector vaccine like J&J or AZ because that may not have been rigorously studied.

    Any thoughts?

My gym is currently mask-optional for customers. Required for employees. I suppose I just need to suck it up, plan a short workout and see how I feel about it.
The wife is starting back being in her physical exercise class tomorrow. She had the same block for a long time.

They are running trials now for combining different vaccine types for effectiveness.

The doctors and PHD's can provide better context, but they seem to at least think there is some merit or at least no harm in the combined style.

On a happy note, both parents are vaccinated. Mum had the Rona back in Dec, and Dad somehow avoided it, but it's good that they have had their jabs.
