Already the hysteria has ticked up a notch here. Now seeing bare shelves at the local grocery stores that were at least partially stocked yesterday. This is good practice for what Socialism will surely bring should Bernie somehow manage to 'get the nod'.

This has also put me off (likely permanently) from watching anymore of the Zombie/Apocalypse/TEOTW movies. Thinking about burning my copy of The Stand.

ETA: Aaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnddd.....the news just keeps getting better. Our county now has its first case. According to local media, it is some nitwit ''returning from international travel who had only minimal contact with those in the community before becoming symptomatic and contacting his doctor''.....makes we wonder what number is 'minimal' since there is no integer called 'minimal'.

I am part of a taskforce than can erect a field hospital in 6 hours and have it operational inside of 10. I'm not sure if the people in charge have thought about "staff". It is designed to move in after a disaster to augment or take the place of damaged facilities utilizing the staff that works there. we do travel with a limited number of qualified people be nowhere enough to run it. The emphasis has been put on the other part of what we do which is the morgue. As for what I do in the TF, blues nailed it with this

It's amazing and the efficiency is making things somewhat in-efficient. My Mom was just admitted to the hospital Friday for a heart irregularity and possible pneumonia (she's okay and likely being discharged tomorrow.) The amount of bouncing between the wall mounted computer, scanning the I.V. bag, the I.V. machine, the infusing machine, the medication package and the patient's wrist band was hilarious. The second time they came in to change bags I counted 17 different "beeps" (scans) that were done. The nurse looked like she was doing a shuttle run.

If you think that's bad, you should look at the documentation requirements for billing...

My neighbor caught me outside doing a little maintenance and came over to complain about bars being and restaurants being forced to close (Ohio).

He wanted to go out an have a nice meal tonight. To summerize: "Closing bars and dining establishments because of some damn cold virus! Beyond dumb!"

    My neighbor is a lawyer...

    This country is doomed lmao

EDIT: On the plus side I have finally convinced my mother that two extra boxes of pasta and a pack of frozen chicken does not constitute "emergency preps."

Uh-oh. Larry Kudlow just said “Most of our supply lines are working pretty well in the domestic United States … "

In adm speak that means in about a week there will be shortages everywhere. You need to have the decoder ring.

Anybody's gun clubs slowing down or suspending operations?

I keep getting emails from my club that they are holding all sorts of matches. They also actually starting a skeet Academy for new skeet Shooters to learn.

Seems like a bad idea to me

been hearing of similar stories like that in the hardest hit US places. The scary thing is even if we are able to instantly stop transmission, given the time lag in detecting cases and then developing symptoms that require treatment, we're already going to be pushing beyond capacity in certain areas. If it takes 2 weeks for cases to show and we are seeing doubling in less than a week... well do the math.
