Not sure if I've posted this yet but it's utter chaos here. Apparently someone in the SOM Dept of Psychiatry objected to ED/MICU providers being up first for the vaxx because "[they] see COVID patients too," so now its by clinical site lottery system supposedly. Or, it was last I heard; with how our operations tend to go this very well may have changed 5 times in the last 48 hrs

My institution received their shipment 3 days ago and a select group of hospital leaders were videoed as they got their first dose, and that was uploaded to the institution’s Facebook and Twitter feeds...you know...to show the troops that it’s safe. Well, that didn’t have the desired outcome in and institution where equality and social justice rule.

Then, there is the issue of the web-based questionnaire design to stratify who needs it first based on likelihood of exposure and medical conditions. You know, because people are going to feel all warm and fuzzy telling their employer about their medical history. Making matters worse, the website crashed within minutes of opening. One would think that if the porn industry can create websites that handle hundreds of millions of hits per day, then one of America’s premier academic institutions could create one that handles a few thousand...🙄

My *current* county Covid hospitalizations has reached 4,864.

Edited to add: plus emergency rooms in the area are full enough that one of the hospitals closest to me had at least 17 ambulances waiting to drop off their patients due to how full the emergency room was yesterday. That’s not even counting these people close enough to the front of the line that the ambulance felt safe to leave:

You know, maybe it's just because I am in the terminal phase of the PhD, but the results at my institution have completely met my expectations for academic medical centers

I am really surprised at the vaccine roll out reports above. Yesterday and today, "Tier 1" employees were vaccinated. Late today the administration sent out a last call for Tier 1, and announced that tomorrow they were opening it to Tier 2. A person's tier rating is based on where in the hospital they work and their exposure level. A receptionist or janitor in Tier 1 areas is still a Tier 1 even though they don't interact with the patients to the degree that docs and nurses do. Techs in the molecular path lab that are running samples and have no direct patient contact are also Tier one because of handling fluids that contain infectious virus. I don't get out much, but I haven't heard any grumbling about the process.

Talk to the administrator or chief nurse/charge nurse about your concerns, you have a legitimate need to be vaccinated.

No.

PEG is commonly used throughout pharmaceuticals and even food, and at much higher concentrations than used in vaccines. The two people observed to have anaphylaxis thus far were highly allergic to a bunch of shit and have had anaphylaxis before, nor has the medical community definitely linked their anaphylaxis to the PEG in particular....that bit is just anti-vaxxers linking onto some nugget of info and running with it.

It's not some big bad evil new chemical that is dangerous. It's pretty standard.
