That has to cost the banking industry billions every year.
Uncle Sam has already shared all my info with the world, I no longer have to worry.
There's nothing civil about this war.

Yeah, they seem to have a problem with so called "secure" data. They probably wish now they had never threatened with a draft notice.

I rely on the wisdom that stealing the identities of people known to own guns is a bad idea.
If we have to march off into the next world, let us walk there on the bodies of our enemies.

People put down wrong, fake or stolen SSNs all the time and it’s not uncommon to see multiple SSN listed on RAP sheets.

The vetting process for issuing UPINs are based on fingerprints rather than just alphanumeric criteria. You get printed on blue (civil) print cards and your prints are run against the prints in the criminal indices. If your prints don’t match a prohibited person record you get a UPIN. The UPIN matches to your fingerprints like the FBI number of a RAP Sheet.

Wouldn't it be great if all you had to do is get fingerprinted and then scanned every time you purchased a firearm? Save a lot of time and money filling out forms and shuffling paperwork.

Not necessarily. Not everyone wants the government having their bio-metrics and fingerprint scan and search tech is expensive. You think NICS is bad wait till the fingerprint database goes down, and it does.....

NIC's isn't in the picture for me anymore. It's the county sheriff that runs the check. They take as long as they want. I can vote by mail tho, that happens PDQ.

That is a WA state issue. Not really relevant to UPIN.

I know. Just trying to put this delay into perspective as many states have BC's and wait periods not associated with NICS, although they use NICS.

This. I had to get a UPIN about ten years ago when I was denied on a NICS check. Seems some dirtbag had - or just used - the same name and DOB that I have. I had to get fingerprinted again, send the cards in and wait. Current law in Louisiana is that one's CHL meets the requirement for a background check, so things go more quickly now.
