I’ve got a G17.5 with granulate Talon grips all the way around which I’m shooting the vast majority of my rounds through at the moment. I’ve got a G17.2 with granulate Talon grips that I’ve chopped the little front strap strips off as they weren’t staying in place. Not having grip tape on the front strap seems to help in indexing/re-indexing my hand, but I have a feeling removing the tape from the backstrap would help even more. Any suggestions on what generally works best or if I should consider something completely different?
Check out what Vogel does - if memory serves he uses grip tape only at the base of the back strap.

I didn't know they had that - pretty cool. You can get it in smaller quantity for less on Amazon to experiment, assuming it is the same/similar thing.

I haven't tried this so this is not an endorsement...

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

I first found the gray 3M rubber tread tape at my local hardware store, packaged already pre-cut in strips to apply to steps or floors.

Interesting stuff, thanks for the heads up. I’ll probably try that eventually.

For now I’ve trimmed off the granulate from the front and backstraps. Need more time playing with it, but so far it’s a definite improvement.
