    Ruger GP100 .44 special, Delisted

Ruger has pulled the GP100 (1761) in .44 special from its web sight. They pulled it on January 2.They still show the Talo model (1767) but local dealers could not locate one. If you are interested in one, I wouldn't wait. If everyone is finally back to work from holiday, I should pick mine up today along with my other present to myself.

Grab-a-gun and Buds still show in stock so they are not gone, yet. I got mine in from Grab-a-gun Wednesday and haven't got to shoot it yet.

This isn't terribly surprising. Unfortunate, yes. But not unexpected.

As fun as the old 44 SPL is, it isn't mainstream or popular outside of a small clique of revolver enthusiasts. Once this small market was satiated that's pretty much going to be it.

I've got to think a .45LC is just a lot more ballistically useful, with a much wider variety of projectiles that will work well at a variety of velocities.

Probably although as a handloader I think it might be close to a tie.

What I would like to see is a .41 Mag on the GP-100 format.

I have never been a fan of the .357 magnum. I always thought it was loud and obnoxious to shoot and have had many .45 long colts over the years and a few .44 mags but never a special until my son talked me out of my last 45. I run up on the 5 inch while out looking for S&W M25 and fell in love with the .44 special. I got the 3 inch for my "to me by me" Christmas present after my ungrateful children failed to catch my hints. I have been expecting Ruger to pull these just not while I was trying to show it to a local holster maker. Ruger pulled as I was trying to pull it up on my phone. It was there for a minute and I refreshed the page and it was gone.

This and if Henry would add a loading gate to their pistol caliber lever guns would make my wallet weep. A buddy has a 4&5/8s Blackhawk and a Henry rifle that shoots the .41 like a laser.
