I don't know if anyone's looking for older Colt DA revolvers, but Foundation Pawn in Loveland CO has at least 20 for sale. No affiliation, just letting folks know. A Diamondback in 22 would be pretty cool, but out of my price range right now.

It's been sitting there with no bids.

The model and serial number on the frame appear to have been done with a drill press. Every other revolver I've seen from S&W has a stamped model and serial number on the frame.

    it looks....off.

I was thinking the same, either parts gun or conversion. It's got the new type rear sight with the rounded tang combined with a case-colored hammer and trigger, which look odd but could be about right for 1994 production when that combination of features showed up on the Model 29 and 629. It makes me want to see the serial number on the butt under the grips.

Then I found this on the S&W forums:

And then I found this: http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-rev...ial-essay.html

So apparently S&W mixed dot-matrix markings, stamped markings, and laser-etched markings on the same gun. And apparently the mid 1990s were big transition years. And apparently some of their dot-matrix serial numbers DO look like they were applied by someone with a center punch and a hangover.

I have no idea whether the gunbroker example is legit, but I'm reminded that with Smith & Wesson, anything is possible.

I didn’t snag that, but I did find a Remington 514 for my grandson.

That's awesome. My grandfather's 514 with a Weaver 4x was my first gun and one of my prized possessions. I hope he enjoys it

I'm tempted but not enough to buy it sight unseen on the internet. Might be of interest to someone local..

That’s a lot of money for a gun that has been marked up with an electropencil
