Thread: Leather IWB Holsters Revisited

    Leather IWB Holsters Revisited

New job is incredibly data heavy and I'm chained to my 3 monitor desk for hours at a pop. Add in a long commute, a too small rental car while my Charger is in the body shop and for me that equals a sore and swollen inguinal region, so both pocket carry and AIWB are off the table for the foreseeable future.

I carried IWB for the first 20 of my 30yrs of edc, but over the last decade, I've given away pretty much every IWB holster to people that needed them more than I did...or so I thought. I'm using a JM IWB#3, and Tony makes great gear, but I don't really like kydex behind the hip and I bought the #3 for the occasional IDPA match or a hard, dirty chores type of day when I don't give a tinker's dam if someone spots my pistol like when I recently had to belly crawl under my mom's house to check for a leak.

I know I recently saw a link here to someone making basically a Versa-Max, but without the metal mouth band (which I haven't liked since I collapsed one years ago in FOF), but it wasn't in a holster thread and I'll be damned if I can find it. Does that ring a bell with anyone? What else does the hive like for leather IWB?

For quality, design and craftsmanship you can't beat Exodus https://exodusgunleather.com/

They make IWB with the metal reinforcement if it's a gun that will need to be reholstered often or a non-reinforced holster if it's strictly an on and off the belt holster.

I’ve been well served by Kramer horsehide for 20 years, including use at idpa matches. Their iwb3, for me, is as good as comfortable, durable strong side carry gets.

ETA they have some with less cant than the 3, if one prefers.

Milt Sparks offers a VM-2-like holster with no steel band and more cant. It is called the Nexus. https://www.miltsparks.com/products-nexus.php

I’m not in a place where I can type up all my usual stuff about how awesome this holster is... but if you search P-F you’ll find it. In the meantime this is my go to leather IWB.

And Sam has a holiday sale for 20% off through the 30th.

I have found myself headed more down this road lately, have been looking heavily at the 5-Shot Leather Inside Burton Scabbard or IBS.

The sale is for ready-to-ship items on the web store. Includes free shipping, too.

I ordered and received one of these for my Commander and couldn't be more pleased. $92 to my door in about a week.

I'd previously had one for a G17 and Kahr, and let them slip away.

It does have the steel mouth band.

I will add this one http://jrcholsters.com/index.php/hol...-the-waistband

In fact the IWB-SS holster with a split loop pictured was for me. Jim makes fantastic leather holsters and is a great dude!

Would also say miltsparks, Kramer are both good to go.

TT gunleather Slim XC. Have one for a 1911 and one for a Glock 19. Great quality and very comfortable..and slim as the name implies.

What gun is this for? If it’s not a Glock, that could narrow your choices.

Garrity gun leather makes great quality, and very comfortable holsters.
