There comes a point in everyone's life when they realize, the "quickest" or "best handling" or "best sounding" takes a back seat to "this one gives me the Fizz."
My turbocharged Neon, gives me the Spicy Fizz every time I drive it.
The family's 1972 MGB convertible gives me the Nostalgia Fizz.
I want a 911 or 928 for the German Fizz.
I've long lusted after a BMW 850CSi for the GT Fizz.
A Corvette could be added for the Flag Waving 'MERICA Fizz.
And of course, a Gen1 or Gen2 Dodge Viper for the It Will KILL YOU Fizz.

Nice. I’m very happy to see the direction of this thread moving back away from Macans and other SUVs and CPO lease specials.
Six or 2.0 / type iv based or something else entirely ?

I would still have a 914 with a turbo Subaru motor if I could've found a clean chassis 18 years ago when I was all fired up about doing that swap. Rust was a problem even in SoCal.

the good news is, it's an internet forum, you can help steer the topic any which way you choose!

The bad news is, it's an internet forum, you're unlikely to wind up in total control of the direction(s) the topics go!

Which does raise a question, is this thread/topic only open to those interested in old cars that need a lot of tinkering and fiddle-fuck? The title says "car geek, gearhead, hot rodder, and vehicle".

Nice. I’m old enough to remember when 2.0s were truly fierce and extremely successful stock class National autocross machines. Growing up, my dad had a ‘63 356 Super cabriolet so I grew up loving air cooled 4 cyl Porsches. I learned a lot in that car as the limits of the old 165 Michelin Xs were low, and those gorgeous huge finned brake drums could only dissipate so much heat. I miss that car, and my dad. Sometimes it’s sobering to realize that my STi is as old as my dad’s car was when he first let me get in and start it and keep it running, and that my e30 is older than his car was when he died.

Locally a few years back I used to see a well prepped, well driven track only version of this.

Anyone who tells you that a 914 is either not cool or not a real Porsche doesn't know what they're talking about.
