    Birth year Smith

I’ve sort of half-heartedly looked for a birth-year Smith for a couple of years now.

Unfortunately, I was born in a no-dash year, and people seem to think the finish on a no-dash conceals solid gold underneath. That is they want too damn much.

Then I happened on this fairly nice Model 17.

According to SCSW, it left the mothership the same year as me. IDK if it’s worth getting lettered.

The gun has aged a helluva a lot better than me.

It's funny this thread popped up, as I recently got an M-37 Airweight square-butt in a trade. After doing some serial number research, it turns out to have been made in my birth year. Cool coincidence!

Were you there when David recorded the greatest one-hit-stop in history?

Did he mention what load he was using?
