In the past Colt has outsourced certain models including those made under license by colt competition (which is actually based in Texas) and the Colt expanse rifle.
Colt 6920s etc are all made to spec by Colt. Colt does not and has not made every part of the rifle, that is true of both commercial and Govt /MIL guns.
I am familiar wth the expanse line, and when I was looking for information on Colt products in Feb or March of this past year, @Wayne Dobbs reaches out to a contact of his at Colt, and said that the LE and CM prefix serial numbers were no different from each other.
CM prefix is not to be confused with CE prefix (expanse).
Draw from this whatever...you want, I guess, but I’m a bit befuddled by the claim made earlier in the thread that recent production colts are junk, apparently, since....they’re no different than older Colt products, serial prefix aside.
