IWB Thumbreak Holster for Beretta 92 with rail

I recently acquired several Beretta 92 with rails, both full size and Centurion. I usually carry IWB at 3:00, under a suit coat or robe. I have had Berettas jack themselves out of IWB holsters that do not have a thumb-break snap at the top, so I really have to have that. I also like double snaps to hold onto my belt. I've bought one such holster, but I am interested in what others use.

What I bought was from Ted Blocker: https://www.tedblockerholsters.com/M...ster_p_34.html

    What are others using?

I can't think of too many IWB holsters that even offer a thumb break.

Andrews will do their MacDaniel II with a thumb break http://www.andrewsleather.com/traditional.htm

Black Hills Leather has a couple https://blackhillsleather.com/gun-le...the-waist.html

Simply Rugged's Tribute can be worn IWB https://www.simplyrugged.com/ecommer...158&parent=669

Have you tried Kydex or other thermoplastic holsters? They tend to retain guns very well without the need for a thumb break.

I feel leather has greater retention than kydex.

The late Paul Gomez on "Choosing Gear for Concealed Carry" at about the 4:45 mark.

    I am aware of that.

The OP indicated he carries a Beretta 92, which is a thick gun. A proper leather holster with a reinforced mouth adds about 1/4 inch to the total thickness that must be concealed. I can conceal a full size 1911 in a good Kydex IWB holster, but have difficulty concealing a Glock 26 in a leather holster with a reinforced mouth.

Properly molded open-top leather will only release the gun easily if it is pulled in line with the holster, while Kydex is more forgiving of pulling the gun out at different angles. This would definitely have more of an impact on my choices if if I were carrying an exposed gun, but I prefer to minimize the likelihood that no one will know the gun is there to grab.

I have used Kydex without a thumb-break, and the pistol jacked itself out

I used Kydex for several years, then had incidents with two holsters where the pistol jacked itself out. I have been carrying non-railed Berettas in leather holsters, with thumb-snaps, and with metal reinforcements at the top. They are bulky, but it isn't a problem because like it or not, I always wear bulky clothes.

I thank everyone for their pointers.

Going through the gun selection app on Safariland, they will make you a Model 3S Pistol Pocket® Inside Waistband Holster which has double snaps and thumb break for a 92. I have one for my 1911's.

I asked about that holster for the railed 92 frame, and I was told they don’t make it for the railed frame. I will inquire again.

Hey sir, I'm in the same boat. I switched to using my leather thumb break whenever I carry OWB after I've had two instances of a Glock being pulled out of my Raven holster by a foreign object. Once was in a training scenario by a long gun sling, the other time was on a tarmac in a foreign country when the overlapping armor of a vehicle's door frame caught the butt while trying to get in. Thankfully nobody saw it except for the host nation security guy I was working with, and he laughed and told me a story of his own firearms faux-pas to ease my feeling of embarrassment.

Some things are more important than square range draw speed....like retaining your gun

Check out TT Gunleather, as he can do railed 92s and will add a thumbreak upon request.
