    Winchester Q4455 .40 180gr JHP Bonded

    Ran into this...

    https://www.sgammo.com/product/40-ca...-service-ammo-

Never heard of this particular packaging/sku of this ammo before. My assumption is that it's another contract overrun based on the same Ranger Bonded / PDX-1 loading we've seen in other overrun SKU. As such it could be pretty good, expecially for the price ($0.40/round.) Anyone think I'm off track here? Anyone actually buy/shoot/test it under this SKU? Is it a safe assumption its functionally the same as the Q4369 white box stuff that pops up occasionally and has at least been amatur tested?

Someone here - I forget who - has said that the "Z" prefix denotes second-quality ammo. I don't know either way. I hope he's wrong because there have been a bunch of deals with Winchester ammo like that.

They're nickle plated cases. Maybe cosmetic blems?

Could be. Can't hurt to try.

I believe that was the FBI's .40 caliber duty load for some time.

It has been awhile but I have seen "Ranger" in both .40 and .45 when training with the FBI.

If you want brass cased ammo, then Brownell's has it for a bit more

Found through the link to Brownell's above, but not sure the one I post will go through that:

This place has the Q4369 for little less: https://www.ammunitiondepot.com/1298...grain-jhp.html

I have never done business with them, so caveat emptor, but wanted to share the info.

Someone made a video (complete with improperly performed gello testing.) Velocity is surprisingly low.
