Following the horrific mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio in August 2019, Governor Cuomo called on the Democratic presidential candidates to support the "Make America Safer Pledge," which includes the following gun safety measures that New York passed in 2013 with the SAFE Act:

• Outlaw assault weapons and high-capacity magazines

• Create a mental health data base to prevent the dangerously mentally ill from purchasing a firearm

• Pass universal background checks closing the private gun sales loophole

• Pass Red Flag legislation preventing individuals who pose a risk to themselves or others from purchasing a firearm

I left NYS shortly after the safe act passed. FUAC was a common refrain among the gun owners there. Fuck You Andrew Cuomo. During elections ABC was oft touted as well. Anyone But Cuomo.

He is the epitome of what feeedom loving people should avoid electing. He truly tries to reign from the throne.

And he shakes hands like a bitch. I had to "kiss the ring" prior to some hurricane response some years back.

Sometimes, I want this "mental health database" shit to actually get passed in legislation.

Just to watch the ACLU, NRA, SAF, all work together to to sue the Fed. I want to see the scathing SCOTUS rebuke of a law like that, which I suspect would be an almost unanimous decision against it, because no one, from RBG to Roberts can argue effectively for the legality, constitutionality, or efficacy of such a thing, let alone the federal AG.

Heck, if they do it right, you might even get a group like the SPLC to join the challenge against it.

I know, we must be careful what we wish for. And any such legislation like this, I oppose and tell me congresscritters to oppose. But sometimes, I feel like idiots like Cuomo just need to get slapped down hard by the actual adults in the room.
