Since you have leading and some more gunk to remove, a small investment in Kroil is worth the outlay. It does an excellent job of getting under lead and carbon, allowing it to be brushed out of the bore. I usually run a patch wet with Kroil, put the pistol in a closed container in my garage overnight as Kroil is full of volatile chemicals I prefer not to smell, and then brush out the bore the next day. I am always amazed by how much lead and carbon Kroil loosens.

The didn’t have Kroil, but they did have PBBlaster. I have a small glass pan with a lid for soaking stuff.

    Damn the iPhone Typos!

The bore is probably the best-looking part of the gun.

The next one in the pipeline may be a Model 65-2; recessed, but not pinned. It's not as bad as the M60, there's not anywhere near the nasty crud, but there is rust in the hammer recess and the channel for the hand.

Both guns have dehorned hammers that were done fairly well, but not by the factory. The SA notch is present on both guns. After I finish the 65, it'll become my primary carry gun.

And, if I can swing it, the project after that may be a Combat Commander, again with bonus rust.

The Model 65-2 cleaned up nicely:

The bore is slightly pitted. Between that and the bubba'd hammer, the gun probably isn't worth a whole helluva lot. It times nicely, though.

It'll probably go to the role of main carry gun.

The frame under the grips are pitted, but the gunk inside of the gun cleaned up/

I have to get a ramp insert kit, but that's what's left to do.
