^^^Back in the 80's I started taking alto sax lessons. The instructor asked me what my goal was, I said to play like Paul Desmond on "Blue Rondo a la Turk".

I had a hard time finding much opportunity to practice because of my law enforcement career and knew it was over one evening when I heard someone walking down the street yell up to my third floor apartment: "Put a sock in it!".

I have been moderately successful in talking my son into admiring Joe Morello. It's a work in progress.

Man, there were a ton of great drummers from that period in jazz.

I'm primarily a fan of the hard bop era...early 50's to early 60's is my main area of concentration...with the likes of Miles, Mingus, Coltrane, Monk leading the way...and the many men who played alongside them...too many to mention, though Herbie Hancock stands out for his genius both as a pianist and composer.

    The guy can sing.

(It wouldn't surprise me if Sidheshooter knows him.)
The lead/backup guitarist in his band is my next door neighbor. Seriously.

I don’t believe I’ve met Wylie in person, though it may have happened in passing without me tracking. He’s an interesting guy, to say the least.

It's a small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it!
