    You're welcome.

    [Major Tom]
Thank you for reminding me of this great song!

I noted a difference in the lyrics between the German and US version:

German version 1:1 translation German -> English US version
    Dann hebt er ab und
    [chorus:]
    Völlig losgelöst
    Von der Erde
    Schwebt das Raumschiff
    Völlig schwerelos
    Then he takes off and
    [chorus:]
    Completely detached
    From Earth
    Floats the spaceship
    Completely weightlessly
    4, 3, 2, 1...
    [chorus:]
    Earth below us
    Drifting, falling
    Floating weightless
    Calling, calling home

So, the countdown only exists in the US version. So only an American could really associate this song with the countdown date. Thank you again for doing so.

    PS:
Wow, in Canada the song peaked at position 1 in the singles chart.

Thanks for breaking down the differences! I took a little bit of German in college in the 90's, and I couldn't figure out the countdown part.

I remember listening to the American version when I was a kid and it was on the pop hits radio station. I'm sure I never saw the video until I looked it up on Youtube last week -- MTV was pretty much only in the areas with cable tv.

My wife is a HUGE Cyndi Lauper fan...I have to admit my sister had the She's So Unusual album which she played A LOT...and I liked it. My wife is a huuuuge Cyndi Lauper fan...my daughter is a HUUUGE Family Guy fan...

My wife says she can no longer hear the song in her head without Seth Mc Farland doing the voices...I have to admit, neither can I....

We could isolate Russia totally from the world and maybe they could apply for membership after 2000 years.

Duran Duran in the Wembley Arena in London (2005). Lots of positive energy:

I've read, Duran Duran was Princess Diana's favorite band.
