IMHO, Eric Burdon was waaaaaayyyy ahead of his time. He was 23 when the Animals recorded "The House of the Rising Sun." Whenever I hear it, Eric sounds still sounds like a middle aged guy. A big favorite during my Basic Training/AIT days (not a big surprise): "We Gotta Get Out of This Place." And then there's "Sky Pilot" & "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood." When I googled him just now, I was very entertained by his....history, if you will. For example, thought I knew my Beatles' trivia - didn't know this: Eric Burdon was the egg man. I'm not gonna ruin it - check it out, it's in the Wikipedia entry.

I mean I like both of these, too, and they also get stuck in my head so .... I like what I like.

If we have to march off into the next world, let us walk there on the bodies of our enemies.
I'll see you and raise you...

And a little redemption, just to prove that even 80s one-hit pop can become pure gold- the Sturgill Simpson cover. Seriously, it's fantastic.
