Are ACT-Mag M&P mags any good?

I'm going to pick up a 40-9 conversion barrel for my M&P40 in the near future so I need some full size 9mm mags. Before I drop $28+ on factory mags for basically a fun gun, is there any reason to avoid the ACT-Mag version for ~$10 less per mag?

    Thanks!

Thanks! I know Pro-Mag is usually a crapshoot at best but I never seem to hear anything about ACT-Mag.

I only have the three because when I was accumulating M&P9 mags you could get the S&W mags for $20 at Botach and the ACT were like $16 so I never accumulated any more.

ETS is saying they will be available today:

Interesting. I hope they are reliable. I see there are 21 and 30 round versions "coming soon "

Those ETS are interesting but I thought the Glock versions were iffy? Or are they ok for range use but not carry or competition?

I see a lot of them used for competition. I have one myself for the occasional GSSF.
I read that they do best with roundnose bullets. OK, I shoot roundnose bullets at targets.

I gave a friend the 22x9 version for USPSA. He said he had a 30x9 for his PCC but the stagger of cartridges visible through the plastic was so odd, he assumed it would not work and had not even attempted it. The one I provided does just fine, so he will now actually shoot his PCC.

Hmm, wonder if they will get around to making a $20 magazine for my STI.

I would also consider picking up used LEO M&P 9mm mags. I have a few that I got a while back from AIM SURPLUS.

Wow that’s an ugly cartridge stack.
