It's a tough call. I wouldn't be able to do the work on my property, due to terrain, with a rubber tired hoe that I can accomplish with my 308. But, I can load my dump truck way faster with my 416 Cat hoe vs. the 308. If I had to live with only one, I would take the midi-excavator over the hoe.

Got a quote from the Deere dealer today on a long(er) term rental of a 40-50k lb machine.

Meh. Think I’m just gonna go that route for now. Makes more financial sense for the time being...I guess.

Been looking for a decent farm tractor with front end loader.

Unless something happens in the next couple days that totally changes things, looks like I’ll be picking up a Zetor Major 80.



Really nice machine for the money. Oh, and did I mention, i can get a brand new one....without the tier 4 emissions nonsense? I’m delighted. Nothing like a 4.2 litre, 4 cylinder diesel with a mechanical injection/pump...
