Is this area at right in the map a good bet for local hotel options / spouse shopping and such like?
Rich myself, GyroF16 & some 'tard named Pipes have stayed sev. X's @ a < 1yr. old HIX in Addison right off Belt Line Rd. & nearby are many other hotels but I'm UNC if your preferred props. are in that immediate area.

I'd recommend staying west of the Galleria area on Belt Line as there are a metric ass load of restaurants etc. in Addison that should cover any needs you have w/ out having to venture into the traffic etc. that the Galleria has to offer.

Here we go! Here is the first draft of our schedule for the 2020 Tactical Conference in Dallas. Please read all the notes carefully before posting questions. Also, don’t forget we’ve got tons of FAQs posted on the Tac-Con website. It’s still early, so we might need to make adjustments later on. If anything changes in the schedule, we’ll update this document. There will also be a more detailed schedule matrix and event brochure published later with locations, equipment lists, and more. Defensive Pistol Match

The pistol match will run Friday and Saturday, all day, from 8am-5pm both days. The stages are blind. Please do not ask for details about the match. If we told you what to expect, the exercise wouldn’t be very defensive, now, would it? :-) Just come to the match prepared to solve problems with whatever tools you would normally carry. More info to come.
You will have an assigned time to shoot the match. Please arrive early enough to begin shooting at your assigned start time. You will receive an e-mail prior to the event with your assigned time. Be sure to make a record of it. It will take about 30 minutes to shoot the match. You will need 40 rounds of ammunition.
The Man-vs-Man Tournament will be on Sunday afternoon at 12:30pm. This will involve the top shooters from the match that was shot on Friday and Saturday. Spectators are encouraged to attend and watch. Awards will be presented at the close of the conference, around 5:30PM on Sunday.

    Notes from Tom:

    Please read the following carefully.

This schedule contains over 80 separate training blocks, including live-fire, classroom, and interactive training sessions, in addition to a pistol match all day Friday and Saturday and the Shoot-Off on Sunday. Obviously, there is simply no possible way to attend everything that interests you.
For Classroom blocks, you DO NOT need to register or make a reservation. Simply show up at the class before start time. Do not enter and interrupt once class starts.
For Interactive blocks, you do not need to register or make a reservation, with the exception of Southnarc’s Experiential Learning Lab. Approval will be required for that one event. Later, you will be advised how to apply.

For Live-Fire Blocks, we have to limit class size for safety and control reasons. As the conference approaches, you will receive instructions on how to request as many live-fire blocks as you wish, and we will try to give you what you want. You will not get entry into all of your requests, however. Please DO NOT request those training blocks yet. You will get a separate message directing you how to request those shooting blocks.

    Tac Con Pistol Match Information

If you plan to shoot the match, PLEASE read all of this information.

Each year we run a pistol match throughout the three days of the conference. You will have an assigned time to shoot the match, which takes less than 30 minutes. You must show up at the match bay at your assigned time, with your gear on, ready to shoot, if you wish to participate.

On the first two days, shooters will compete in a timed course of fire, on turning targets. Your signal to go is when the targets turn to face you. At the end of the time limit, the targets disappear. This enforces the time limits and adds a bit of stress on the shooter. This course consists of a total of 45 rounds, fired at 5, 7, and 10 yards on a silhouette target.
On Sunday, the top 16 shooters from Friday and Saturday will meet for a Man vs Man shoot-off. The shoot-off uses very realistic mannequin type targets that fall only when hit in the vital zone. This is a great spectator event, as attendees watch the very best defensive shooters slug it out one on one. There is a separate shoot-off for the top scoring men and the top scoring women. You are encouraged to watch if you don’t make the cut.

Please note that this is not an IDPA or USPSA match. For this match, all of your gear must be worn concealed. “Concealed” means that an observer looking at you from 10 feet away cannot see your gun, holster, ammo carrier, or other equipment that would tell the observer that you are armed. Just think in terms of being on the street in a major American city with your gear concealed. If your gear does not meet this criteria, your score will not be recorded and will not count toward match standings.

Your gun may be revolver or semi-auto, of any caliber larger than .380. Thus, a 9mm, .38 Super, .357 SIG, .40 S&W, .45 Auto, .38 Special, .357 Magnum would all be fine. You will need 45 rounds for the main match. How many you need if you make the shoot-off depends on how well you shoot under pressure, but 50 rounds should be sufficient.

If you wish to shoot the match, you do not need to contact me. You will automatically get an assigned shoot time, which will come in an email.
Trophies are presented to the winners at the end of the day on Sunday.

Basically, zero. This event fills every year by the prior November. Better luck with 2021.

Will PM when we have our logistics figured out.
Got the flights (Delta TPA-ATL-DFW) sorted out, and we will be staying at the Hyatt House Dallas/Addison on Edwin Lewis Dr. Bit far from Hard 8 but I think we will be happy.
