Roosters can be nasty. When I was around 13, there was a kid who liked to torment animals. I saw him hit a big rooster with a rock. Then the cock chased him down and kicked his ass. He had some deep cuts all up his legs and tummy.

I had some pretty deep seated childhood fears that lasted until my early 20s after being trapped in a chicken coop with an aggressive rooster around 5-6 years old. They can do some nasty damage if you are not careful.
