I just learned that from this thread. That's great to know, I'm going to surely pass that info along to him.

I have been using critical duty for years, I dig them, very low flash at night and seem to be very accurate in every pistol I've used them in, well I've only used them in 4" barrels and up.

It is true that they expand when they hit drywall, but they still had enough energy afterward to penetrate 8-9 inches in gel for the 105 grain personal defense and 12 inches for the 124 law enforcement versions. Kind of makes it the worst of both worlds -- not very barrier blind yet still lethal...
    Thanks for the pics!

Looks like my memory was partially faulty, because it looks like that might stop in a second wall, probably in a third.

Not exciting enough for me to replace my Gold Dots and FMJ, but it looks like the idea isn't totally without merit.

Federal EFMJ and Corbin Pow'rBall are specifically deemed acceptable by the NJAG. Have a recent inquiry in regarding Hornady Critical Defense/Duty, waiting on a reply.

What's the inquiry, if you don't mind me asking?

They've said the Critical Defense is fine for the last decade or so.

To my reading, they've said it isn't a hollow point - they have not said it isn't a dum dum.
