75 and 50 yard markmasnship

I shoot at a private club. We have plates at 25 yard intervals. I'm consistent with my Ed Brown Special Forces 1911 at 25 yards and in. I have rung the bell (8" plates at 50 and 75 yards). I'd like to be more consistent. I shoot freehand.

How should I align my sights in relation to the target at 50 yards versus 75 yards and even 100 yards?

I found a post on 1911 forum talking about 230grn at 850fps. It assumes POA/POI at 25 yds, but it should at least give you a starting point.

25 yds: 0
50 yds: -2.47"
75 yds: -8.15"

My bet is this is a lot more about trigger control than sight alignment. I would start by shooting on paper, like the PF target, that has a visible eight inch circle, but enough paper that you can see your shots. Also consider sitting or prone initially, to get more stable.

I may be pointing out the obvious, but you could also consider going to a 185 grain bullet at higher velocities to reduce the necessary amount of holdover.
