    Optimizing/upgrading a JM Custom AIWB...

    Hey AIWB fans...

I've got an original JMC AIWB for my Hi Power (sans claw w/ soft loops and extra tuck). It's surprisingly comfortable, even when I sit. However, it still exhibits enough belt roll (i.e., leaning forward over the belt) to look fairly conspicuous under most T-shirts. I've been putting a wadded-up sock behind the muzzle to tuck the butt--which actually works. As far as grip tuck/rotation... the tighter the belt, the better the tuck. But it takes a pretty tight squeeze to make it totally disappear.

Looking for advice/thoughts on how to get a bit more concealability and perhaps comfort out of the setup. Here's what I'm considering:

-Foam wedge. Would order from JMC. Will the wedge still fit over the extra tuck?

-Discreet Carry Clips. From Discreet Carry Concepts. Any experience using these on similar holsters? Looks like they'd print less than the soft loops. The "Mod4 Super Shorty" variant seems like it would match the placement/ride height of the loops.

-Any kind of belt claw that could be bolted on? There's one screw on the original AIWB... and the claws all seem to have a two-screw setup. Plus, I'm not even sure a claw would engage the belt properly given the holster's wedge design.

I've got a Graith specialist belt on the way. Hoping that will be more comfortable/lower profile than my current 5.11 nylon belt.

Doesn't look like Tony is making holsters for the BHP anymore--otherwise I'd consider springing for a Wing Claw 2.0.

Thanks in advance for any advice or insight.

I don't see a wing or dcc clips working on that.

For me - snap loops stick out like a dildo on my belt. Wing claws for me push the top of the slide out away from my body to an unconcealeable degree.

It’s not a beretta 92 in a keeper - but it’s similar enough that this it what id do

Get the solid injection loop or steel Clip from tony. Play with the angle - I like more 12:30 or so placement with a slight reverse cant. (Drill more holes If you have to) Reverse cant puts the barrel between my junk and leg. Next add the biggest foam wedge you can find to see if that helps...for me it does.

    Best of luck

MattyD380, the wedge will kind of work but the pad would be a better option is you have the extra tuck. They are a 1/2" thick (double the thickness they used to be) and will conform to the extra tuck much better. You can also move the pull the dot loops down one hole to the 1.25" belt loop hole and see if that tightens up around your belt some and helps with stability and concealment. The DCC clips will not mate up to that holster. You could try the steel clip , but if you go that route you need to send it back to me to drill new holes as you have the wide hole pattern. Or if your handy with a drill you can do it.

We made maybe a dozen BHP holsters in 9 years of doing this full time and sense we switched over to all CNC molds and real guns as test fit pistols, it didn't pencil out to keep the gun list we had and the BHP got the chop, unfortunately.

Let me know if you have any other questions or I can help out. Thanks

Appreciate the insights, guys. And thanks for saving me money on stuff that ain't gonna work.

Tony, it makes sense why you wouldn't continue offering holsters for the BHP. I found this particular relic on EBay, for a whim. I do like it--and the thing I truly appreciate is how it keeps the gun from digging into my gut when I sit. Pretty comfortable to drive in this thing, which is something I can't say for just about any other setup I've used for AIWB.

I guess the loops aren't a deal breaker in terms of printing--the DCC clips would have been kind of "nice to have." I will probably start with the pad and go from there. Hopefully a better belt will help too.

    Thanks again.

I bolted a steel clip to my JM. It’s thinner than the plastic one. And I added a foam pad that’s significantly wider than the holster. It adds tuck. An helps keep the holster from “swinging”, left to right

I can’t see a way to add a claw. I have a keepers with a similar profile and one adjustment screw.

Fixed loops with screws are, in my experience, somewhat less bulky than snaps.

I got this tip on this forum a while back… maybe it was Mr. Mayer. I cross the snaps like a “X”, keeps them a little more flush against the belt while still being arguably more secure than a clip.

a warm flat iron quickly applied can flatten them also

How are the steel clips with retention vs ptd loops?
