    Music download or stream

What are the best places to obtain music? This is for a college student dorm or phone listening.

Apple Music, Amazon, or Spotify. All are $10/mo. I use Apple, my wife uses Spotify.

We have the Amazon Music family plan.
Unlimited music for 4 family members on 3 (4?) devices each.

My oldest still prefers Spotify, even though Amazon would be free to them.

In my experience, Spotify (premium) is the best.

Best algorithms, best playlists and new music.

You can download to phone or mobile device and stream via wireless or cellular.
There's nothing civil about this war.

Spotify user here for the convenience factor and playlists, which are great for discovering new music and not having to think about what you want to listen to next. I still maintain a large archive of MP3s, though... SoulSeek has been a great source for that stuff for me for over fifteen years now. Remarkably it’s still going strong. I still like having lossless copies of things that are DRM-free.

I use Apple Music. The student membership is like $5.99/month and $20/year service fee.

Spotify for streaming. CDs and/or vinyl for owning.

The jerkfaces that run the record companies are hit or miss for including a digital booklet with downloads. There is often a load of information in a booklet or record sleeve that can send you down another rabbit hole. Who wants to miss that? People who don't know it's a "thing."

(And yes, you can get off my lawn, if you please.)

I honestly can't remember the last time I streamed music but when I did it was Pandora. I converted all my CDs to MP3s and they're all in my phone.

When I'm at work I actually listen to the radio.
