Philadelphia USAO Goes for the Throat...

I thought that US Attorney McSwain deserved his own thread to be recognized for standing up for law and order: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime...-rbP-l7Dx5MbA4

McSwain opened a news conference by reading a statement in which he lambasted the district attorney, a Democrat who took the position in January 2018.

"There is a new culture of disrespect for law enforcement in this city that unfortunately promoted and championed by District Attorney Larry Krasner and I am fed up with it," McSwain said. " ... and now we've endured for a year and half the worst kind of slander against law enforcement, with the DA routinely calling police and prosecutors corrupt and racist, and most recently comparing them to war criminals and comparing them to Nazis."
Bravo, sir. This man should never have to buy his own drink again.

Born and raised in Philly long ago. I now live 17 miles south of the City near the DE State line. I do keep up with some happening in Philly.
DA Krasner is a proponent of early release from prison, not seeking jail time, not prosecuting minor crimes. According to local media the shooter who wounded 6 LEOs has been convicted on various crimes from from 2001 to 2012. He was sentenced to prison two times, released on probation two times and then violated probation both times. He had prior firearms offenses, and was in possession of an AR15 and a handgun which he used against the police who were serving drug related warrants.

No here is the clincher. When asked what went wrong with the idea of being lenient to felons like the shooter, he replied that the "system" took steps that were unable to prevent the incident. Damn it, he is the system leader that espouses being lenient when it comes to felons. So the Attorney general not only made a good call, he spoke plainly enough to expose the failure of the DA's policies, the DA's stance about leniency, and the fact that the DA is in fact contributing to the disrespect for the law and those who are charged with upholding it. One other thing, when DA Krasner took office he fired 31 assistant DAs who regused to sign onto his leniency policy. With a DA like that the Law Enforcement enemies list just got a new man at the top of it.

Clearly the perp has a friend in Pennsylvania...and apparently he didn't spend enough time in the joint to make the damn plate.

The Philly D.A. continues to prove his true genius...

Philly DA Larry Krasner said he offered suspect in police shooting a ‘phony baloney’ deal to surrender...

Would he have to honor that and could he be compelled to do so?

No, but I don't think that's the biggest issue...

Let's see, doing deals during the commission of multiple crimes; advertising that you don't keep your deals; insisting that guys like this should be on the street and not in jail in the first place (violates "restorative justice," y'know).

Krasner would make a great law school hypothetical: "What is the worst thing this hard-left idiot did today?"

Understood the multiple other issues. I was curious about that one aspect because he’s making a deal that is actually in his authority to make.

What an epic level of kittentardery! Never mind all of the other stuff that's flowed from the gap beneath his nose, now he comes out and says he made a "deal" with a barricaded suspect that was bogus. Like the PD's negotiators don't have enough issues to deal with.

Recall, nuke, fire, something. That DA has zero business being in office.
