Here in the Pacific Northwest we have long contended with anarchists, centered around Eugene, OR. They seem surprisingly well-organized...

And well funded also! Kind of dispel's the "just a bunch of angry barista's" myth.

I'm ok with NYPD taking the summer off in certain areas.

Glad I'm retired and NOT there...

This made me so angry when I saw it. Obviously a total lack of leadership at the top. These cops suffered abuse and humiliation that the previous generation would surely never have tolerated. The inmates are running the prison, it seems.
Amen. This made me physically ill to watch. The only thing that made me feel a bit better was thinking about what one of my old, rough training officers (RIP, Ron) and one or two of his beat buddies would have would have done in these circumstances. It would have been on YouTube, alright. And if the circumstances would not allow you to make an arrest or ID the guys, there would be lots arrests and plenty of extra patrol for the next several days in the area, until someone got tired of it and did a little community policing of their own and dropped a dime on whoever was responsible.
Between this and the stupidity of people treating the ICE guys like they are SS guards, I'm just glad to be retired. Let these folks have the world they want.

When I still lived in NYC my neighbor, (RIP Bob), was a housing cop in the "Pink Houses" in Brooklyn, a mile or so from where we lived. He had some harrowing tales of objects being tossed down from roofs and windows.

Fortunately, I only had to make arrests or conduct searches in the projects on a part time basis.

Doesn't look like things will be getting any better anytime soon under the current "leadership" in NYC (or D.C. for that matter).
There's nothing civil about this war.

I have no proof, but I suspect that Democratic Presidential candidate and well-known watermelon Tom Steyer is partially responsible for their funding.

Apparently it's my day to be that guy. I know he's a corksoaker, but what is a 'watermelon' in this case? If not a fascinating case of autocorrect?

In this neighborhood's case, maybe take the rest of the year off, and see how they like it..
