No hook and loop, easy to adjust, take on and off, it will last pretty much forever. In my opinion it is the best belt that we have ever made.

No. It is more similar to a friction bar buckle like that on a riggers belt but with a much lower profile footprint. The pictures that @blues posted show the buckle however that is not how we thread the webbing through it. The Frame buckle as its name implies creates a "frame" so when the belt is built how we build our Sanmai.LV it makes the buckle lay flat.

Even though my version is an earlier iteration, I would completely agree, Chris.

(I will say that the "Universal" that you used to make with the dual brass rings is also a favorite and a design I wouldn't mind seeing again down the road with perhaps some spec changes and updates from the mastermind at Graith.)

So, if I am understanding correctly there is really no reason to go with a Specialist over this unless you wanted that style of buckle, as this belt will both outwear and outperform the Specialist for support? Does this belt give up anything in terms of comfort vs. the Specialist or vice versa?

FWIW, beside the cost difference and a few design differences, remember that the Specialist with the polymer Fastex buckle is definitely going to be airport-security compliant, whereas the metal buckle types aren't necessarily so.

Although they're not magnetic as assessed with a strong Alnico magnet, they're still detected by typical handheld metal detector wands, so if you want to wear just one belt while travelling by air, the Graith Specialist (or the Wilderness Frequent Flyer) are your best choices if you intend to practice CCW.

Ha no sales pitch just my opinion. If you do not need an extremely small buckle I much prefer the Graith Sanmai.LV to any Specialist.

Yes. The Specialist as the name implies is for specialized applications and if you do not need the extreme low profile of a Specialist then I think that the Sanmail.LV has everything you would want in an AIWB belt but it can also be used for IWB and OWB thanks to how it is stiffened. The Sanmai belt construction also makes for a more comfortable belt than a belt that is stiffened with scuba or resin impregnated webbing. A belt can be looked at as a tool and selecting the proper one for the task is important. The Specialist is great at what it does but by virtue of its specialized application there are trade offs for its performance.

We have been getting a lot of questions about how to get a Sanmai. All Sanmai belts are currently out of stock. The Sanmai line is a limited production item, this means that we only have the capacity to make so many at one given time. We order small quantities of the buckles and when they all sell out we order more components. The Sanmai is expensive and extremely time consuming to produce and we only make them to showcase our ability to make the finest concealed carry belts around. They are not a money maker or a high volume item. That being said for anyone that would like a Sanmai when they come back in stock and you have not done so please sign up for our newsletter on our website as that is where the re-stock alert will be disseminated. Thanks to everyone for the continued support.

Ordered. This should solve the issue of the rather large Ares Aegis buckle.
