    SR-16......what buffer are y'all running?

So I was lucky to get the opportunity to purchase an 11.5 SR16 upper brand new through one of Knight's favorite local dealers who got 4 uppers allocated to them. (they're all sold. I got the last one during a preorder).

That said.......... IT doesn't come with a buffer/spring. I was entertaining running a Spikes T2/Spikes AR spring in the SBA3 equipped pistol lower. I had it left over from my Geissele URGI build as it came with their setup. But.....I'm partially worried it's not going to be enough due to how regulated the KAC gas system is. Might work out perfectly though.

Just wondering what y'all were running and mileage was. I'm going to be using Black Hills 77GR TMK and 56GR MEN ammo, at some point attaching a KAC QDC can after waiting forever of course...

I believe KAC ships their 11.5 and 14.5” uppers with a H2 buffer and standard AR spring. While the Spikes T2 weighs the same as a H2 buffer, the tungsten powder doesn’t behave the same and the sliding disks inside a standard AR buffer. I’ve seen high speed video of bolt bounce due to a Spikes T2 buffer. YMMV but I’d just run a standard H2 buffer/spring.
    Shoot more, post less...

I usually run the factory KAC HH buffer in mine. I was gonna give you a link but it seems to be out of stock most places.

For a suppressed Noveske Mk 18 upper on an M4a1lower, the correct recipe was an H2 buffer. The addition of a Wolf extra power spring gave the same reliable function with a nicer(?) feel. Not sure if this experience will translate. I would start with the H2 and find a spring that works with your can and chosen ammo.

If you're going to run the QDC, KAC recommends the H2 buffer.

I'd definitely use the H2 with 77gr as well, I've seen guys run into issues without it, including myself with 77gr OTM and the Mod2 gas system.

    UPDATE!

SO.....I have purchased a buffer directly from KAC through my LGS who's cool with them......$100 later, here is what I got. It's actually heavier than a spikes T2 which blew me away. 0.4oz to be precise.

I'm glad you annotated the part number also because I was concerned with how regulated the gas system is in SR15/16's this buffer would be too heavy. But I feel a lot better now. Despite how scratched up this one was upon receipt lol.....I bet they used it a bit, or just dropped it a lot. But it's a buffer, it'll serve its purpose.

I think I'm going to order a Geissele H2/Super 42 combo for when I start shooting the URGI suppressed, then move the spring into this one. I Think the spikes will do fine for the meantime, I need to focus on the optic/mount, light/switch, and more importantly the trigger so I can get this thing up and shooting asap.

Little stuff like that is why I love KAC. Even their buffers are slightly different. Who knows what sort of testing and R&D they did to arrive at that weight.... but you know that took place.

Lol also why a KAC part is one billion dollars.

Nice rifle brother. I love KAC. My only regret is I can't afford more of them. I finally finished my 16" Mod 2 this year. I think my next one will be a CQB

I used to think HK shit was expensive. KAC dunks on HK with their pricing once you get into one. I was lucky my buddy took off one of the KAC muzzle devices for a surefire brake to make it super flat. He gave it to me for free so I could run the KAC QDC in the future instead of the NT4, because I have 2 additional SR-15's in the house.
