442 FS not taking cold blue

Tried cold blue, some type of Brownells goo, and aluma black which has worked on more than just aluminum. Front sight was dinged and chipped, along with the rear notch. Notch took the aluma black, but FS won't take what I have tried. Any idea what would work? Since it's the top edge, it does not affect sighting.

Some 442s have a carbon steel barrel and cylinder with an aluminum frame, while more recent ones have stainless steel cylinder and barrel that are blackened at the factory. On the stainless, the easy answer will be some kind of paint (Testors model paint will work) in whatever color you prefer for your front sight. Or a Sharpie for the fast cheap way. The rear sight, of course, is part of the frame so the aluma black might work satisfactorily, but you can also go with paint or a sharpie.
