Essentially, everyone running any public event—from college to convention—is in between an optics rock and a PR hard place on this.

Shutting down would concede that we have a serious crisis and that is that odds with some administration narrative. On the other hand, I don't think we can stop living our lives. All conventions, etc. cannot disappear forever. It isn't like this will be over in two weeks, it will linger as do other diseases.

One thing that bothers me (I apologize to those that totally believe in Trump), that his rhetoric at the CDC was so bizarre as to rank with the ramblings of Uncle Joe. Pence looks professional, despite the folks who denounce him. The convolutions that administration officials have to go through to excuse Trump are so saddening. Thus, shutting down might seem a slap to the man whose re-election is proclaimed the first priority of the NRA.

I wonder which candidate would be best for business and which outcome. Bernie taps into some populism and does not seem to be a highly motivated gun hater, despite his standard Democratic rhetoric. He would be more after billionaires for his crusade. True, you could to the 'socialism' is coming mantra but does that raise money. Biden gives you pure gun hatred and much better for fund raising.

Trump getting re-elected and keeping the Senate and retaking the house is bad for business. Little chance of a national AWB. But who knows, supposedly after Las Vegas, Trump and the GOP was on board for a total ban - but we were saved by the bump sacrifice. So send those checks - for what? More justices on the court that are gun friendly (no need for a check). My view is that the golden Decision is aimed at abortion and not gun rights, anyway. We won't see a decision that wipes out the state bans. Just a guess.

A Biden presidency would be good for business! The issue then is the cause vs. the finances - which is better for you. Win the Cold War and that's good - unless you wanted to make more F-22s.

    Let's see . . .

Biden when asked about taking guns away responded, "Bingo, when it comes to assault weapons." He then talks about putting Betto "Damn right we're coming for your guns" O'Roarke in charge of solving the gun problem. But he's not the problem.

Bernie Sanders who has publicly come out against guns for a while really, really doesn't mean it--even though he has bragged about it in advertisements

But let's play 4 dimensional chess here and engage in some really wishful thinking and support Biden or Sanders, because Donald Trump banned bump stocks and might not be pro gun.

    Gotcha.

4D chess is Donald's supposed extremely stable genius game. I've even heard folks say that the bump stock ban was part of setting up the golden decision from SCOTUS to wipe out all bans.

The RKBA has few real friends among the upper political classes. The social issues are played without real conviction to maximize the those folks staying in power. There is an cognitive, emotional and action component to be considered. Talking the talk and rally appearances mean little if the action doesn't follow.

I'm trying to ascertain what the actual behavioral outcome will be with the various players, if we can discern their real motivations. Say this or that to get elected. Really have victory on an issue and see that issue fade from your electoral blather portfolio.

Make millions with expensive drugs that partially work. Somebody comes up with a cheap drug in your lab that make the disease go away. Hmm, what to report?

Make a nice living defending the RKBA. A politican, legislature and court - Da DAH - wipes out the most noxious gun restrictions. What do you do? A believer is happy. A person more interested in making a living - hmmm?

If gun laws are wiped out, what is the appeal of the NRA, GOA, etc. - just sports and competitions? That is viable as smaller business and recreational cause.

Not too many repeal Prohibition activists making a living today. BTW, I wouldn't support Biden under any circumstances. Nor do I think, as is strikingly clear, that Trump is a person one should respect or hold up as a role model. His basic competence is shaky. The Devil's choice is to hold one's nose for your cause. That is understandable. I don't respect those in the throws of cognitive dissonance to praise his worth as a role model or human being. I would state the same thing about Biden if I were prone to vote for him. Failed person, low ability but might support something I like. However, I am not prone at all to support him.

Since the powers that be have decided Bernie will become the subject of NeverBernie from the Democrat viewpoint, game planning him is now irrelevant from an RKBA point of view.

That was probably the right call.

I agree that cancelling was the right call, and I was seriously considering not attending anyway.

I just tried to cancel the hotel reservation I made January 31, and no one at the hotel - either in Nashville or at the registration center - can find the reservation I made through the website (the seminar website linking to the hotel website) when I registered for the National Firearms Law Seminar. There is some possibility that reservations made through this system were automatically cancelled, but no one I have spoken with yet can say for sure. Anyone else have any issues with hotel cancellations?

I’m going to bet that Tennessee is on the verge of burning large gatherings, if they haven’t already.
If we have to march off into the next world, let us walk there on the bodies of our enemies.

Things are bad in parts of the State ..
Not sure if that has anything to do with Hotels not having the right info.

At least 24 killed, 38 missing after Tennessee tornadoes ..

Looks like reservations made through the NRA site were automatically canceled.
