I want to get my son a rig to have him run through uspsa stages. I know nothing about airsoft.
This is what got me thinking.

This is an older video, but it's fun to watch.
I have a Glock 17 copy and a STI copy airsofts. They both have reciprocating slides and run off green gas. They're pretty fun. No recoil. You can shoot them inside by using a big cardboard box filled with crumpled newspaper or folded old towels. You need to be careful you don't shoot the middle out of your backstop and shoot through it and put holes in the window blind behind it. They have held up pretty well, but you need to keep the magazines lubricated with the correct oil.
My Grandson got one of the CO2 ones from Cabelas and the magazine blew up the first day.
They have 1911s that would probably fit holsters you already have. You'll probably want to spend $100 or so to get a good one.
Murilo Moraes just breaks the cute meter!
Green gas vs co2?

Green gas. You'll want an extra magazine or 2 because the mags freeze up after a couple of fillings with fast shooting. They thaw in just a few minutes. The gas working acts just like the coils in your fridge and freezer.
@fatdog provided some much appreciated karma for charlie.
He's pretty stoked.
