Ruger Blackhawk Flat Top (Medium Frame) Holsters?

Hey PF crew, I'm looking for some gun leather recommendations!

I have a Blackhawk Bisley flat top in .44 Special w/ a 4 5/8" barrel showing up this week. (Quiet squeal) I think I'd like a pretty classic Threepersons-ish style holster. I didn't think about how much the flat top and medium frame, while cool and something I like about the gun, would limit some holster availability with many makers seeming to mainly accommodate the larger New Model frame.

Am I right about the flat top not fitting current New Model Blackhawk holsters due to the larger frame size?

I really dig this guy's work on ebay, but he makes for a very limited selection of guns. Beautiful work though!

I know Simply Rugged and El Paso accommodate the flat top, who else?

Thanks in advance! And revolver porn to follow!

Congrats on one of the sexier-looking sixguns around, IMHO.

Also, look at Barranti leather Or Mernickle, while you’re surfing,

And, so long as you’re still surfing, some past threads, in case you haven’t seen them yet:

Thanks a bunch! I’ve been reading too much Elmer Keith and Skeeter in the last year or so and went from having zero interest in SA guns to drooling daily. I am in the shallow end of the pool though, I’m doing a lot of reading and research and learning something new every day. Fingers crossed, it should arrive tomorrow. Loaded up some test ammo this morning!

Can’t say enough in praise of my Ringler leather. Hand made in beautiful Wyoming!
Don’t blame me. I didn’t vote for that dumb bastard.

Email the guy. I’m thinking the models made for the Colt SAA would possibly be a good fit.

I did just that! 😁 Here was his reply but he has no flat top to try it with. The biggest answer I find to will it fit the SAA or large frame holster on different forums is “depends on maker.” Some the sights don’t fit, others are too roomy etc. I’m a Glock guy I’m not used to having to holster hunt! Haha.

    Adam,
I can only make holsters for the large frame, but a lot of people use it with the smaller gun and say it works fine for them. I hope to be able to make holsters for the flat top someday.
    Thanks!

I had no interest in SA revolvers either. I kept looking at reruns of Gunsmoke. Marshal Matt Dillon is the one I will blame (thankfully) for that urge. I eventually bought the above referenced Ruger in stainless and 5.5" barrel. For some reason I want to find a saloon and drink beer.
