I have installed dozens of sights by using a c-clamp over the top and several leather (old belt works well) pads. I clamp as near the sight as possible to prevent twisting when drifting them in. Sight should slip fit about 1/3 of the way into the dovetail. Brass punch, small hammer and patience. Use a witness mark so you can see starting point. At 5 yards shots should all be touching, in my opinion. Magnify the 5 yard groups by a factor of five, and that is what you can expect at 25.

Went for another round today. It had some good moments, but some not so. Shooting both guns with 124 HST & 124 AE, both offhand and from a rest. It was a 50ft range, and my shots at 50’ weren’t great, most likely me, so I decided to keep things at 15-25’ for today. Overall, at about 15-20’, my windage seemed good to excellent, but beyond that I saw the high & left creeping back in, so I’ll assume that was all me, but not sure why. Even from a rest, I had some like that. I had built up a stash of 1K rounds of the HST for my Sig 226/229, and so I was hoping it would perform well in our new HK’s. I shot some nice groups with both guns, with both HST & Ball, so overall I’m happy, but would be curious to grab some GD and see how it performs in these two guns, just to compare them. The P30 is mine, and I’ve got way more experience with it, and definitely shoot it better than the SK, but wouldn’t hesitate to carry the SK.
I used 3 mags for the SK, a 10r w/pinky ext., a 13r, and a 15r from my P30. I need to maybe go back and shoot with just one, and try to get my shit dialed in, so that I can try and get some consistency. Sticking with one gun per session would go a long way to keeping things simple.
After another 200 rounds in testing, I feel a little better than I did on Friday, so...

For me the gold standard for zeroing is 25 yards. I want it dead on or + 2” at that distance. I confirm the left and right at 50 yards and continue out to 100.
