The take down lever on my new Shield 1.0 rotates loosely when the slide is removed. I sent it to the factory to be fixed, and they returned it with the note "no repair required". I sent them a video to verify the note.

S&W Customer Support replied that this is considered normal. I'm surprised, but glad to be reassured that it is operating properly.

Can't say how it was designed, but my 1.0 is that loose, and has worked fine for a long while and lots of rounds. Wouldn't worry about it.
Mine does the same.....no failures of any sort.....over 2000 rounds down the pipe. Supposed to be this way. Shoot & enjoy
